COUNTRY LIVING MAGAZINE CHOOSES SAWMILL VILLAGE HOME AT SNOWSHOE MOUNTAIN 2009 HOUSE OF THE YEAR

CHARLESTON, WV –
Country Living, the nation’s leading shelter magazine has announced the completion of the magazine’s 2009 House of the Year.  This year’s house finds its place nestled atop the picturesque peaks of West Virginia’s Snowshoe Mountain in Sawmill Village, the resort’s exclusive, gated residential community.

Each year the magazine collaborates with a builder on a home building project. The Country Living staff works with the builder on the planning, design, building, decoration and photography of the house. The House of the Year is designed to reflect the comfortable, casual lifestyle Country Living’s reader’s desire.

Country Living combines a blend of classic American style and personalized comfort in its House of the Year building project,” says Nancy Soriano, editor-in-chief of Country Living magazine. “The astonishing views at Snowshoe Mountain are the ideal setting for our 25th home project. The 2009 House of the Year will inspire readers with ideas to incorporate in their own homes—regardless of where they live.”

Sawmill Village is the gated residential community located within the nationally-recognized Snowshoe Mountain Resort offering authentic, superior craftsmanship, radiating multi-generational appeal and embracing the natural heritage of the mountain.

“It was an honor to have been selected to build Country Living’s 2009 House of the Year, and with just over 6 months to design, build and decorate the house, we had to have a total team commitment in order to successfully complete the house”, says Thomas Tretheway,  President of studio a one. Tretheway teamed up with John Mathena of Proven Construction Management Inc. to get  the job completed in the short time frame.

Boasting the first 100 percent Energy Star® rated homes in the state by incorporating up-to-date “green” building materials and methods, Sawmill Village delivers quality living and privileged ski-in, ski-out access for discerning homeowners seeking a tranquil retreat from everyday society stresses.
